"I have been a client of Karen's for several years. She has helped me tremendously through some extremely difficult times in my life. She has been so instrumental in helping me deal with issues concerning my adult children that was causing me increasing anxiety and depression. Her consistently kind and empathetic nature always makes me feel comfortable in discussing some extremely stressful situations. At the end of each session, I always feel like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Karen has given me so much needed guidance over the years I don't know how I would have coped without her! I would have complete confidence in recommending her to anyone in need of an excellent therapist!" –Client

Life transitions can be very exciting; while at the same time feel overwhelming as we get used to a “new normal.” I work with many clients who have recently had babies and have experienced excessive anxiety and/or depression. The following are typical symptoms of Postpartum Anxiety:
Excessive worry, Feelings of dread, lack of concentrating , changes in eating and sleeping patterns, dizziness, rapid heartbeat and nausea.
Postpartum depression is also something that some women experience and is very treatable with therapy and sometimes medication. These symptoms can be: trouble sleeping, appetite changes, severe fatigue, lower libido, frequent mood changes and/or feelings of harming self or baby. If you feel empty, emotionless, or sad all or most of the time for longer than 2 weeks after pregnancy it is a good idea to reach out for help.
Other life events that I treat are:
-
Parenting challenges
-
Becoming an Empty Nester
-
Caring for elderly parents
These are all phases that we go through in life that can be replete with conflicting feelings. Life is filled with challenges no one is immune to stressors and change. I am very passionate about helping each client with their respective goals – sometimes starting small with making 1 minor change at a time can make a big difference!
